Venue: Beijing Library

Located in the northwest corner of the “City Green Heart Forest Park” in Tongzhou District, Beijing Library is one of the three landmark buildings of Beijing’s Sub-Center. It was completed and officially opened to the public free of charge on December 27, 2023.

Together with the Capital Library Huawiqiao Branch and the Capital Library Daxing Airport Branch, the Beijing Library forms a new service network known as the “One Library, Three Sites” model.

The total construction area of the Beijing Library is approximately 75,000 square meters, featuring three floors above ground and one underground floor. Its architectural design concept, “Reading Between Mountains and Beneath Trees,” creates a “forest library” within the city.

The Beijing Library holds a collection of 8 million volumes and offers approximately 2,400 reading seats. It features the largest single-library reading room, the largest intelligent automated book storage system in the country, the first comprehensive intangible cultural heritage (ICH) literature reading space, the most specialized art literature center, the largest outdoor reading activity space for children, and a metaverse experience hall in China.

Guided by the functional design philosophy of being accessible, distinctive, and smart, the library hosts multi-themed exhibitions and reading promotion activities. It serves as a cultural complex integrating knowledge dissemination, urban think-tank services, and shared learning spaces.
